Emekli sosyal bilgiler öğretmenlerinin kullandığı yöntem ve teknikler üzerine sözlü tarih çalışması

Abstract

Ülkemizde 2004-2005 yılından bu yana yapılandırmacı (oluşturmacı) anlayışıyla eğitim-öğretim uygulanmaktadır. Bu tarihten önceki eğitim sistemi/öğretim programı tek disiplinli olması, öğretmeni merkez alması, vatandaşlık aktarımı olarak sosyal bilgiler öğretimi gibi yönleriyle eleştirilmektedir. Elbette sosyal bilgiler dersinin değişen ülke ve dünya koşullarında bilgiyi üretebilen etkin vatandaşlar yetiştirmesi için gelişimi ve dönüşümü gerekmektedir. Ancak bu durum geçmiş sistemlerin/programların/öğretmenlerin tamamen başarısız ve etkisiz olduğunu göstermez. Sonuçta günümüzün başarılı insanlarının tesadüfi olarak yetişmiş olması düşünülemez. Araştırmada bu düşünceden yola çıkılmış ve etkenlerden biri üzerinden çalışma yürütülmüştür. Bu araştırma, bugünün başarılı insanlarının yetiştiği ortamda, yukarıda saymış olduğumuz etkenlerden biri olan emekli sosyal bilgiler öğretmenleriyle görüşerek, onların mesleklerine, öğrencilerine bakış açılarını değerlendirmeyi, derslerinde hangi yöntem ve tekniklerden yararlandıklarını belirlemeyi ve onların deneyimlerinden sonuçlar çıkarmayı hedeflemektedir. Çalışma grubunu Denizli ilinde yaşayan emekli sosyal bilgiler öğretmenleri (ulaşılabilenler) oluşturmaktadır. Araştırma için sözlü tarih yöntemi tercih edilmiş, veriler birebir görüşmelerle toplanmıştır. Bu yöntemin seçilmesindeki amaç hem derinlemesine bilgi toplamak hem de belli bir yaşın üzerindeki emekli öğretmenlerin yazmaktan çok konuşmayı tercih etmeleridir. Yapılan görüşmeler sesli olarak kaydedilmiş ve yazıya aktarılmıştır. Görüşmelerde emekli sosyal bilgiler öğretmenlerini tanıyıcı sorular (kısaca özgeçmişleri, mezun oldukları okul ve yıl, görev yaptıkları yerler, emekli oldukları yıl) dışında iki soru (1. Öğretmenlik yaptığınız sürede derslerin işlenişinde hangi öğretim yöntem ve tekniklerini kullandınız? 2. Öğretmenlik yaptığınız sürede derslerin işlenişinde uyguladığınız özgün yöntemler var mıydı? Varsa nelerdi?) ile çalışma yürütülmüştür

Education with constructivist (constructionist) approach has been applied since 2004-2005 in Turkey. The education system/curriculum before this date has been criticized due to its aspects such as being single-disciplinary, being teacher-centered, and teaching social studies as citizenship transfer. Of course, development and transformation of the lesson of social studies are needed in order to train effective citizens who are capable of producing information in changing conditions of the country and the world. However, this situation does not show that previous systems/programs/teachers were completely unsuccessful and inefficient. Consequently, it can’t be thought that today’s successful people were trained accidentally. The study was based on this thought and the study was conducted on one of the factors. This study aims to evaluate viewpoints of retired teachers of social studies, who were one of the above-mentioned factors, regarding their occupations and students, to determine which methods and techniques they used in their lessons, and to draw conclusions from their experiences by meeting them in the setting where today’s successful people are trained Retired teachers of social studies (who were reached) living in the province of Denizli constituted the sample group. Oral history method was preferred for the study and the data were collected through face-to- face interviews. The purpose for choosing this method is both to collect in-depth information and for retired teachers over a certain age to prefer talking rather than writing. Interviews were vocally recorded and put down on paper. The study was conducted with two questions (1. Which teaching methods and techniques did you use for teaching of lessons when you were teacher? 2. Were there original methods you applied for teaching lessons when you were teacher? If so, what were they?) except for the questions identifying retired teachers of social studies (brief background, the school and the year they graduated, the places they worked at, the year of retirement) in the interviews.
