dc.description.abstract | In this study, the reasons behind the disappearance of immigrant children according to the views of primary school teachers were examined. In this direction, the study was carried out with phenomenology, one of the qualitative research designs. The study group of the research consists of 13 primary school teachers who work in the district of Esenyurt in Istanbul and are selected by criterion sampling method. The data were collected through a semi-structured interview form prepared by the researchers and analyzed by content analysis. According to the findings; Primary school teachers listed the reasons behind the loss of immigrant children as language problems, socio-cultural reasons, economic reasons, abuse and delinquency, psychological reasons and educational reasons. Language problems stated by teachers; difficulty in communicating, academic failure and difficulty in making friends, sociocultural reasons; economic reasons originating from the local society (prejudice, marginalization, exclusion, labeling) and immigrants (not being able to integrate with the local people, not adopting the local culture, the desire to keep their own culture alive); poverty, unemployment and wage inequality, exploitation and delinquency; vulnerability, physical and sexual abuse and broken families, psychological reasons; Social and psychological trauma, stress, depression and mental health, belonging and identity problems, educational reasons are conceptualized as differences in education systems, insufficient facilities in schools, adjustment problems and non-schooling, access to education problems and the effect of the pandemic, inadequate professional development.
