Abstract: Nowadays, the casting industry is developing parallel with the information technologies (IT). Particularly the casting simulation software is being frequently used in foundry floors for casting quality control and optimisation. In this study, the filling and solidification analysis of a rolling roll manufactured by spherical graphite cast iron were carried out by Vulcan casting simulation software. The appropriate defect relieving suggestions were presented by anticipation of defects that may form during the casting process.
