İlkokul 3. sınıf öğrencilerinin okumaya ilişkin tutumlarının çeşitli değişkenlere göre incelenmesi

Abstract

İlkokul 3. sınıf öğrencilerinin okumaya ilişkin tutumlarının incelendiği bu araştırmada amaç,çeşitli değişkenlerin okumaya ilişkin tutum ile ilişkilerini belirlemeye çalışmaktır. Araştırmada tarama modeli kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın evrenini 2011-2012 eğitim-öğretim yılında Bursa ili merkez ilçelerinde(Gemlik, Gürsu, Kestel, Mudanya, Nilüfer,Osmangazi ve Yıldırım) bulunan ilkokul 3. sınıf öğrencileri oluşturmaktadır. Örnekleme, küme örnekleme yöntemi ile belirlenen alt, orta ve üst sosyo-ekonomik düzeyde yer alan on altı ilkokulun 3. sınıflarına devam eden 286 kız, 322 erkek olmak üzere toplam 608 öğrenci alınmıştır. Veriler araştırmacı tarafından geliştirilen "Okumaya İlişkin Tutum Ölçeği" yardımıyla toplanmıştır. Tutum ölçeği için gerekli geçerlilik ve güvenirlik analizleri yapılmıştır. Elde edilen verilerin analizinde betimleyici istatistik (frekans, yüzde ve ortalama), Kolmogorov-Simirrnov Testi, Kruskal-Wallis H ve Mann-Whitney U Testi kullanılmıştır. Analizler SPSS 20.0 programıyla gerçekleştirilmiştir. Verilerin karşılaştırılmasında anlamlılık düzeyi .05 olarak kabul edilmiştir. Yapılan uygulama sonucundaöğrencilerin büyük çoğunluğunun okumaya ilişkin yüksek düzeyde olumlu tutum geliştirdiği görülmüştür. Araştırmada ayrıca kızların erkeklere; evinde kitaplık olan öğrencilerin kitaplık olmayan öğrencilere; okumaya daha fazla zaman ayıran öğrencilerin daha az zaman ayıran öğrencilere göre okumaya ilişkin daha yüksek seviyede olumlu tutum geliştirdiği sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Öğrencilerin bilgisayarı (internet) kullanıp kullanmamaları ve anne-baba mesleği ile okumaya ilişkin tutum arasında anlamlı düzeyde fark bulunamamıştır. Sosyo ekonomik düzey olarak okulun bulunduğu yer üst sosyo-ekonomik düzeyde bulunan öğrencilerin tutum düzeyleri daha yüksektir.

The purpose of this research, which studies the attitudes of 3rd grade elementary school students towards reading, was to identify the effect of various variables on the attitude towards reading. Survey model was used for the research. The population of research was consisted of 3rd grade elementary school students who resided in central towns of Bursa Province(Gemlik, Gürsu, Kestel, Mudanya, Nilüfer,Osmangazi ve Yıldırım) during the academic year of 2011-2012. Determined by sampling and cluster sampling methods, total 608 students were recruited, 286 of whom were girls and 322 of whom were boys, who continue 3rd grades of sixteen elementary schools from upper, middle and lower socio-economic levels. Data were collected with the help of "Scale For Attitude Toward Reading" developed by the researcher. Validity and reliability analyses required for approach scale were performed. For data analyses, descriptive statistics (frequency, percentage and average), Kolmogorov- Simirrnov's Test, Kruskal-Wallis and Mann-Whitney U's Tests were used. Analyses were performed by SPSS 20.0 program. Significance level was regarded as .05 for data comparison. As the result of the application, it was observed that majority of the students developed a highly positive attitude towards reading. Also it was concluded in the research that girls vs. boys; the students who have library at their homes vs. who don't have it; and the students who spend more time on reading vs. who don't develop higher level of positive attitude towards reading. No significant difference was found between internet usage of the students and the professions of their parents, and the attitude towards reading. In socio- economical terms, the students who are at the upper socio-economic level have higher attitude levels.
