Publisher: | Tuba-Turkish Acad Sciences | Abstract: | The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of the psychoeducation program-which intended to increase internal locus of control-on the life satisfaction of college students. The research was conducted with 28 volun-teering undergraduate students studying at various departments of a public university. Applying an experimental design, the data were obtained by pre-test, post-test and follow up test, and two groups were formed as experi-mental and placebo groups. The participants were randomly assigned into two groups as the experiment group and the placebo group, and each group consisted of 14 students. The participants' life satisfaction levels were meas-ured by using the Life Satisfaction Scale developed by Diener, Emmons, LarŞen and Griffin (1985), and adapted into Turkish by Dagl(sic) and Baysal (2016). Mann-Whitney U and Wilcoxon procedures were used to analyze the data. The results of the study show that the group psychoeducation pro-gram-which intended to increase internal locus of control-has a positive effect on the life satisfaction of the participants and this effect is sustained at the end of the three-month follow up period. | URI: | https://doi.org/10.2399/yod.21.648839 https://hdl.handle.net/11499/50461 |
