Visual landscape assessment studies are important inputs used in landscape design, planning, and management to guide the overall processes and are especially crucial in the decision- making phase. In the evaluation of visual landscapes, different methods have been used for different purposes in various landscapes. In this context, this study aims to examine the articles published between 2011-2021 by domestic and foreign researchers on visual landscape assessment through a systematic literature review. Within the scope of the research, 75 published articles by domestic researchers and 43 published articles by foreign researchers were examined. In the examination, the methodology used in the studies, the area of the study, and the purpose of the study were questioned. According to the results, it has been determined that the most used method by both domestic and foreign researchers is the photo- survey technique. However, it has been observed that foreign researchers tend to use GIS- based methods more than domestic researchers. Although the areas of the study vary, it has been seen that domestic researchers prefer limited- sized areas (such as parks, recreation areas, etc.), while foreign researchers prefer study areas that cover larger landscapes (agricultural landscapes, country boundaries, etc.). © 2023 Peter Lang GmbH, Internationaler Verlag der Wissenschaften.en_US
