Anatolian carpet weaving has an important place in the world carpet heritage. So much so that one of the two knot techniques known in the world is called “Turkish knot”. The adventure of the Anatolian people, a nomadic society, started with the use of the carpet in tents, ranging from sacred places (mosques, churches, etc.) to ceremonial areas, from coffin (sal) cover to palaces and churches, and it still preserves its value and importance today. Carpets have become one of our important cultural heritage items that reflect the values of the society, thought and belief systems with the motifs, pictures and writings woven on them, as well as their usage areas. There are differences in woven carpets such as loom type, raw material, knot technique, quality, pattern and color according to the regions. However, it is still possible to see traces of Seljuk carpets and even Pazirik carpet in the motifs. In recent years, with the contribution of municipalities and governorships, geographical indication registration certificate has been started to be obtained for local carpets. These carpets will be able to passed on to future generations thanks to the registration certificate. However, the very low labor costs in countries such as India, Pakistan and Iran, which produce handmade carpets, affect our competitive power in the world carpet market.-
