Abstract: | The Islamic religion primarily assigns the task of care and education of children to their parents. However, in cases where parents are absent or unable to fulfill their duties, this responsibility falls under the jurisdiction of the state. Foster homes, known as Sevgi Evleri, are institutions where children who are separated from their families for various reasons are housed and provided with educational needs under the supervision of the government. These children, referred to as children in need of protection, often face certain challenges due to their environment and living conditions. The purpose of my study is to demonstrate that a disciplined and continuous religious education, focusing on faith, worship, and morality, will play a significant role in both addressing the problems faced by these children and facilitating the development of a healthy, conscious, and responsible personality in them. Religious education is crucial for individuals to understand themselves, gain knowledge about beliefs and values, find meaning in life, and develop moral maturity and appropriate behavior towards society. In our study, the psychosocial problems of children in need living in foster homes were initially examined in relation to their causes. Subsequently, the psychological and social functions of faith and worship were discussed, and the positive effects of faith and worship education within the scope of religious education on children in need of protection were highlighted. We employed a literature review method and tried to support our findings with existing theoretical knowledge. In conclusion, it was determined that religious education can be an important factor in helping children in need overcome the negative effects of their adverse circumstances, regain their lives, and develop a positive outlook. It can also contribute to their socialization, positive behavior, and avoidance of negative behaviors. | URI: | https://hdl.handle.net/11499/57157 |
