Abstract: This paper presents a novel modulation technique for a half-bridge multilevel inverter topology, focusing on its operational principles, design considerations, and performance metrics. The half-bridge multilevel topology offers a simpler and more cost-effective alternative compared to its full-bridge counterparts, making it an attractive option for medium and high-power devices. However, modulation techniques for such topologies are often complex and challenging. This study introduces a simple modulation technique employed to enhance the performance of half-bridge multilevel inverters. Through experimental validation, the modulation method is implemented in the half-bridge topology. The results demonstrate that the half-bridge multilevel inverter achieves superior output quality making it a viable solution for medium and high-power applications. © 2024 IEEE.
