Abstract: | This study was planned to determine the effects of injection applications into sacroiliac (SI) joints on pain and mobility level in patients with pain complaints and have diagnosis of degenerative sacroileitis. The injections were applied into SI joints in 33 patients who have diagnosed degenerative sacroileitis in Pamukkale University Department of Orthopaedia and Traumatology. Patients were invited by phone and 18 patients agreed to participate in the study. The numbered pain scale was used to evaluate pain status during sleep, rest and activity and Oswestry Back Pain Questionnaire were used to determine back pain. The Rivermead Mobility Index was used to evaluate the mobility levels of the patients. The main age of 18 patients (11 female and 7 male) participate to this study was 44.50±15.76 years. There were negative relation between body mass index and Rivermead Mobility Index (p<0.01) as significant. Elapsed time after injection applications, the increasing in the mobility levels were significant (p<0.05). Also a negative significant relation was found between scores of Oswestry Back Pain Questionnaire and Rivermead Mobility Index scores (p<0.01). In this study, a temporary reduction in pain and an increase in mobility level after injection applications into joints have been observed in patients with SI pain. | URI: | https://hdl.handle.net/11499/6268 | ISSN: | 1306-8814 |
