Abstract: Hederagenin[(3ß)-3,23-dihydroxyolean-12-en-28-oic acid], a triterpenoid compound was isolated from a hydro methanolic extract of the underground parts of Gypsophila simonii (Caryophyllaceae). Hederagenin was isolated by HPLC method and molecular mass was determined by the ESI-TOF-MS. The ESI-TOFMS (negative mode) analysis of hederagenin exhibited a pseudo molecular ion peak [M-H]- at m/z 471.30 which is compatible with the molecular formula C30H48O4.
