Ortaokul öğrencilerinin özetleme tutumlarının bazı değişkenler açısından incelenmesi [Master Thesis]

Abstract

Bu çalışmanın amacı öğrencilerin özetlemeye karşı tutumlarının sınıf düzeyi, cinsiyet, okuma alışkanlıkları ve Türkçe dersi başarı düzeyleri gibi değişkenlerle arasındaki ilişkiyi incelemektir. Öğrencilerin özetleme tutumlarına etki eden değişkenlerin etki düzeylerinin belirlenmesi özetleme becerilerinin geliştirilmesine zemin hazırlayacaktır. Betimsel nitelikli bu çalışmada veri toplama tekniklerinden anket tekniği kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunda 2018-2019 eğitim-öğretim yılında bir devlet ortaokulunda öğrenimlerini sürdüren 478 öğrenci yer almıştır. Çetinkaya ve Demir tarafından geliştirilen ve bu araştırmada kullanılan Tutum Ölçeği “Özetleme Yapmaktan Hoşlanma” ve “Özetlemenin Önemine İnanma” olmak üzere iki faktörlü yapıda toplam 27 sorudan oluşmaktadır. Anket yöntemiyle elde edilen veriler istatistik paket programları kullanılarak frekans, yüzdelikler ve aritmetik ortalamaları çözümlenmiştir. Yapılan çözümleme sonucunda, 5 ve 6. sınıf öğrencilerinin 7 ve 8. sınıf öğrencilerine göre, Türkçe dersi başarı notu yüksek olan öğrencilerin Türkçe dersi notu düşük olan öğrencilere göre, daha sık kitap okuyan öğrencilerin daha az kitap okuyan öğrencilere göre ve kız öğrencilerin erkek öğrencilere göre özetlemeye karşı daha olumlu tutumlara sahip oldukları ortaya çıkmıştır. Çalışmanın sonuçlarından hareketle özetleme tutumlarının olumlu yönde geliştirilmesi konusunda öneriler sunulmuştur.

The aim of this study is to analyze the relations between students’ attitudes towards summarizing and variables such as class level, gender, reading habits and Turkish Language course success status. Identifying the effect levels of these variables will help improving students’ summarizing skills. In this study, which has a descriptive natüre, questionnaire technique was used. The research group of this study consists of 478 students who were attanding a state secondary school in 2018-2019 Academic Year. The Attitude Scale used in this study and was created by Çetinkaya and Demir is composed of 27 questions focusing two different concepts which are “Enjoying Summarizing” and “Believing in the Importance of Summarizing”. The data acquired through questionnaire technique is analyzed with statistics packaged programs fort he frequencies, percentages and aritmetic means. The results show that between 5-6 graders and 7-8 graders, more frequent readers and less frequent readers, those with high scores on Turkish Language course and those with low scores and lastly between girls and boys the former ones have more positive attitudes towards summarizing than the latter ones. Some suggestions to improve students’s attitude towards summarizing were made in the light of the results of this study.
