Üniversite öğrencilerinde aile işlevselliği ile uyumsuz mükemmeliyetçilik ilişkisinde ayrışma-bireyleşmenin aracı rolü

Abstract

Bu çalışmanın temel amacı üniversite öğrencilerinde aile işlevselliği ile uyumlu ve uyumsuz mükemmeliyetçilik arasındaki ilişkide ayrışma bireyleşmenin aracılık rollerinin; diğer bir amacı da iç içe geçmiş aile yapısı ile uyumsuz mükemmeliyetçilik arasındaki ilişkide ayrılık kaygısının aracılık rolünün incelenmesidir. Ayrıca çalışma kapsamında aile işlevselliği, ayrışma bireyleşme ve mükemmeliyetçilik ana değişkenleri ile bunların alt boyutları arasındaki ilişkiler incelenmiş; bu değişkenler ve alt boyutları cinsiyete ve aileyle yaşama durumuna göre karşılaştırılmıştır. İlişkisel tarama deseni ve basit aracılık analizinin kullanıldığı araştırmanın çalışma grubunu, Pamukkale Üniversitesi’nin farklı fakültelerinde öğrenim gören ve uygun örnekleme yoluyla seçilen 629 lisans öğrencisi oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmanın verileri Aile Uyum Yeteneğini ve Birliğini Değerlendirme Ölçeği-IV, Ergen Ayrışma Bireyleşme Ölçeği ve APS Mükemmeliyetçilik Ölçeği aracılığıyla toplanmıştır. Araştırmanın alt problemlerinin çözümlenmesinde PROCESS basit aracılık analizi, bağımsız örneklemler t testi ve korelasyon analizinden yararlanılmıştır. Yapılan analizler sonucunda aile işlevselliğindeki artış ayrışma bireyleşme düzeyindeki artışla, bu da uyumsuz mükemmeliyetçilikteki düşüşle ilişkili bulunmuştur. Diğer bir ifadeyle, ayrışma bireyleşmenin aile işlevselliği ile uyumsuz mükemmeliyetçilik ilişkisindeki aracı etkisi doğrulanmıştır. Ancak ayrışma bireyleşmenin aile işlevselliği ile uyumlu mükemmeliyetçilik ilişkisindeki aracılık rolü reddedilmiştir. Ayrıca iç içe geçmişlikteki artış ayrılık kaygısındaki artışla, bu da uyumsuz mükemmeliyetçilikteki artışla ilişkili bulunmuştur. Böylece, ayrılık kaygısının iç içe geçmişlik ile uyumsuz mükemmeliyetçilik ilişkisindeki aracı etkisi de doğrulanmıştır. Sonuçlar ilgili literatür dikkate alınarak tartışılmış, bu doğrultuda uygulayıcılara ve araştırmacılara öneriler sunulmuştur.

The main purpose of this study is to investigate the mediating role of separation-individuation on the relationship between family functioning and adaptive and maladaptive perfectionism among undergraduate students and to examine the mediating role of separation anxiety in the relationship between enmeshed family structure and maladaptive perfectionism. In addition, the relationships between the main variables of family functioning, separation-individuation, perfectionism, and their sub-dimensions were examined within the scope of the study; these variables were compared according to gender and whether the participator is living with the family or not. The study, in which the descriptive and correlational research methods and simple mediation analysis were used, consist of 629 undergraduate students studying at various faculties of Pamukkale University and selected by convenient sampling. The data of the study were collected Family Adaptability and Cohesion Scale IV, Adolescent Separation-Individuation Scale, and APS Perfectionism Scale. The data were analyzed by using the methods of, regression with PROCESS macro, Independent Samples t-Test and correlation analysis. As a result of the analysis, the increase in family functioning was found to be associated with the increase in the level of separation-individuation, which in turn was associated with a decrease in maladaptive perfectionism. In other words, the mediating effect of separation-individuation on the relationship between family functioning and maladaptive perfectionism was confirmed. However, the mediating effect of separation-individuation on the relationship between family functioning and adaptive perfectionism wasn’t verified. Additionally, it was found that the increase in enmeshment was associated with the increase in separation anxiety, which in turn was associated with an increase in maladaptive perfectionism. Therefore, the ix mediating effect of separation anxiety on the relationship between enmeshment and maladaptive perfectionism has also been confirmed. The results were discussed considering the relevant literature, and suggestions were made to the practitioners and researchers in this direction.
