The term “Art Brut” is “Raw Art”. This movement, which was born in France, emerged with theworks of unfamiliar artists, prison prisoners, and psychiatric patients. The creator of this idea was the painterJean Dubuffet. Dubuffet, together with his artist friends Breton and Tapie, refused the arts, which are theproducts of the culture gained by spreading the “Raw Art” movement to the masses. His reputation quicklyspread from this moment due to the fact that his art was actually rough. Dubuffet has approached the works ofthose who do not have an artist identity with certain mental illnesses of the children and the uneducated peoplewith a passion for interest. For years he has tried to compile a large collection of such works. These workswere presented as a true essence of human creativity without artistic and aesthetic concerns and introduced tothe society. The works of the excluded people who could not keep up with social life faced the audience.According to him, objects or works are more valuable with their unformed defects, black and raw, unprocessed. This new art, which does not evoke the objective world and where the nature images of the figures are notincluded, has brought a new breath to contemporary art. Jean Dubufett was against popular and acceptedmovements of modern art such as classicism, academy, romance, impressionism. He ignored all the intellectualand aesthetic values that drove the critics of the artists of the 20th century, following his audience.
