Sosyal bilgiler öğretmenlerinin sosyal bilgiler öğretiminde karşılaştıkları sorunlar: Denizli ve Erzurum örneği

Abstract

Okullarda eğitim-öğretim, Milli Eğitim Bakanlığı tarafından hazırlanan merkezi öğretim programları üzerinden şekillenmektedir. Bu öğretim programları, çoğu zaman sorunsuz ve uygun görünebilir ancak teoride fark edilmeyen fakat uygulamada ortaya çıkan birçok sorun karşımıza çıkabilmektedir. Buradan hareketle öğretim programının uygulayıcısı ve eğitim sürecinde etkin rol üstlenen öğretmen, bu araştırmanın odak noktasıdır. Sosyal bilgiler öğretmenlerinin eğitim-öğretim sürecinde karşılaştıkları sorunlar nelerdir? sorusundan yola çıkılarak bu araştırmada Denizli ve Erzurum il merkezindeki ilköğretim okullarında görev yapan sosyal bilgiler öğretmenlerinin sosyal bilgiler öğretiminde karşılaştıkları sorunların tespit edilmesi amaçlanmıştır. Araştırmada nicel yöntemlerden betimsel tarama modeli kullanılmıştır. Denizli ve Erzurum il merkezindeki ilköğretim okullarında görev yapan bütün sosyal bilgiler öğretmenleri araştırmanın evrenini oluşturmuştur. Evrenin tamamına ulaşıldığından dolayı örneklem alınmamıştır. Veriler, araştırmacılar tarafından geliştirilen anket formu ile toplanmıştır. Araştırmada betimsel istatistik teknikleri kullanılmıştır. Sosyal bilgiler öğretmenlerinin ölçme aracındaki kişisel bilgilerin frekans ve yüzdelik dağılımları ile karşılaşılan sorunlara verdikleri cevapların da aritmetik ortalamaları bulunmuştur. Betimsel istatistik teknikleriyle elde edilen veriler SPSS programı kullanılarak analiz edilmiştir. Açık uçlu sorulara verilen cevaplar ise genel eğilimler ve benzerliklere göre nitel olarak analiz edilmiştir. Araştırmadan elde edilen bulgulardan yola çıkılarak sosyal bilgiler öğretmenlerinin karşılaştıkları sorunlar öğretmen, öğrenci, SBS-dershane, yöntem ve teknikler ile müfredat programı olmak üzere beş grupta ortaya konulmaya çalışılmıştır.

Education and training on the schools are formed on central education programs which are arranged by Ministry of National Education. Most of the time those education programs can be seen as unproblematic and suitable. However lots of errors may encounter which are not observable in theory but in implementation. Thus, the teacher, who is the implementer of Education process and confronting an active role in this process, is the subject matter of this research. Inspired by the question “what are the encountered problems of social studies teachers on the education and training process?” is intended to identify the problems that are encountered on the social study education to whom the social studies teachers in the elementary schools in the city centers of Denizli and Erzurum. The model of quantitative descriptive survey method was used in this research. All social studies teachers working in elementary schools in Denizli and Erzurum were the universe of the research. The sample was not used due to reach the entire research universe. Data were collected by survey questionnaire forms that were developed by researchers. In the research, descriptive statistic techniques were used based on frequency and percentage distribution of individual information. The means analyses of the responses of social studies teachers were conducted about their encountered problems. The responses that are given to the open ended questions were analyzed qualitatively according to general trends and similarities. The research findings indicates that social studies teachers faced five different groups of problems related to the teachers, students, SBS-private exam preparation courses, teaching methods and techniques with curriculum.
