Abstract: The problems experienced by LGBT+ teachers and academics in Turkey were included in this study. LGBT+ teachers and academicians living in Turkey perform their professions by hiding their sexual identity to a great extent. When their identities are revealed, they are exposed to various forms of oppression and discrimination. A phenomenological design, one of the qualitative research methodologies, was utilized in this study, which deals with the obstacles experienced by LGBT+ teachers and academics in Turkey, and semi-structured interviews were conducted with 12 LGBT+ educators using the interview form developed by the researchers. Content analysis was used for the analysis, and in light of the obtained data, possible solutions to eliminate the problems experienced by LGBT+ educators in Turkey were given.
